The Plitvice Lakes (Croatian: Plitvička jezera) is a national park in Croatia and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage.
The main attraction of this unique park is a lacework of sixteen little lakes interconnected by waterfalls. Many rare species of wild animals are native to the area and one of the more notable park inhabitants is the brown bear.
The Plitvice Lakes had become a major tourist attraction in the late 19th century. However, in March 1991 it became the scene of the Plitvice Lakes incident – the first armed confrontation of the Croatian War of Independence that resulted in fatalities. It was retaken by the Croatian Army in August 1995 during Operation Storm, which ended the Croatian war.
The Plitvice Lakes are today one of Croatia’s biggest tourist attractions.

A squirrel is one of many small or medium-sized rodents in the family Sciuridae.
There are about 300 varieties of squirrels around the world. In North America there are ten. Examples are the red/brown squirrels that live in evergreen trees and eat seeds of pinecones and the gray squirrel which lives in woods of oaks, ashes, and beeches and mainly eats beech nuts and acorns.
Their sizes vary considerably. For example, the gray squirrel can be up to three time as large as the red squirrel but smaller than a fox squirrel. A recently born gray squirrel is about one inch long and weighs as little as half and ounce to one ounce. The size of an adult gray squirrel is about 18 inches and can weigh up to a pound or more.
